William Lynn Boseman

April 7, 1946 — April 26, 2025

POMONA, CA

On April 7, 1946, at Los Angeles County General Hospital, a beautiful lively baby boy was born to David Boseman, Jr. and Leatrice Beverly Edmonds.

Preceding William in death was his father, David Boseman, Jr., and his mother, Leatrice Beverly Edmonds. William was the eldest of five siblings born to David and Leatrice: Norman Boseman, Brenda Boseman Clay, Theresa Boseman, Inell Kyles Spivey, and Lionel Jones (who preceded him in death.)

In loving memory, he left his wife, Bernice Lewis Boseman, the love of his life of 54 years whom he met at a Valentines Dance in 1970. They married on April 3, 1971. Three sons (Kyle, Shannon, and Terrance) were born from this union. William had seven grandchildren (Layla, Lynn, Osiris, Peter, Shane, Zen and Zuri) and a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

In his early adolescence, he faced difficult obstacles when a chronic muscular illness (Myasthenia Gravis) caused an extended lingering hospital stay. However, with his sheer determination and many prayers, he overcame his illness.

While in the hospital during his slow recovery, at his bedside, he told his mother, "Don't cry, mother. I will get well, finish school, get a job, get married, buy a house, and have three children." He persevered by accomplishing everything he told his mother he would as she cried.

He accepted Christ at an early age and attended Mt. Zion Church of Ontario, CA. He graduated from Whitney High School. After graduating, he worked for Lockheed Aerospace for a few years and then General Telephone Company, now Verizon, for over 30 years, after which he retired.

William's nickname was "Magnum Slim." He was known for his crazy, quick, and biting humor. During his lifetime, William had many hobbies. William and his brother Norman enjoyed going out and dancing. They became known as the Philly Dog Kings at "Where's it at Mavericks Flat!" That is why he married a dancer-choreographer!

He was an exceptional cook who always asked for and shared recipes with his sister Theresa and others. Also among his many culinary skills, he became an extraordinary plum winemaker.

William was truly an outdoorsman. His other hobbies included a great love of camping, hunting, shooting, fishing, and boating.
