Vickey Marie Coles was born on August 8, 1958, at the former John Westly hospital in Los Angeles, California to Betty Jean and L.C. Hudnall. She was the oldest of three children.

She began her schooling at Lincoln Elementary in Watts, California. After the family moved to the Los Angeles area near Inglewood, she completed elementary school at Century Park, attended Henry Clay Jr. High, and graduated from George Washington High School.

A dedicated student, Vickey was a member of the Ladies and Knights Academic Club and graduated with high honors as a straight-A student.

After graduating from high school, she attended Loyola Marymount University in Westchester, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She finished in four years while working part-time at Montgomery Ward at the Hawthorne Mall.

Vickey also holds a special distinction; she was the first in the history of the Hudnall family to earn a four-year college degree.

Vickey worked in the accounting field for more than 40 years. Her final position was with Accent Plastics Incorporated in Corona, California, where she served for over 20 years as an Accountant. Beyond her work in accounting, Vickey was driven to achieve greatness with her academic talents and business acumen. She became a Licensed General Contractor in the State of California and partnered with her father on several residential construction projects.

In 1983, Vickey moved to Sacramento, where she met Benjamin J. Coles, who was serving in the military at Travis Air Force Base. Their friendship grew into love, and he proposed to her on December 25, 1983. They got married on February 16, 1985. To this union there were no children, but she shared the love with her husband for her stepson Curtis and her two step-grandsons, Curtis Jr. and Keith. They shared 41 years of marriage, until her passing.

Vickey was a longtime member of Holy Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, serving under the leadership of Reverend Luther Porter and, following his passing, Reverend Dr. Carl McCorkle. She was also a faithful member of the church choir.

God called Vickey home on May 3, 2026. She leaves cherished memories for, a loving husband, Benjamin; parents, Betty and L.C.; brothers, LeMond and Lenard; sisters-in-law, LaTree, Casandra, and Linda; brother-in-law, Jason; stepson, Curtis; step-grandsons, C.J. and Keith; nieces, Kennedi, Monica and Jalin; nephews, Jayden, David and Brandon; great-niece, Cilali; great-nephew, Noah, and a host of relatives and friends.

Vickey, rest in eternal peace. You have earned it.
