Simeon Lee Lewis

September 6, 1974 — November 11, 2025

Simeon Lee Lewis, known as "SIM," was born September 6, 1974, to Bishop Quentin Samuel and Donna Lee Lewis at Dominguez Valley Hospital in Compton, California. Simeon was called to rest, November 11, 2025.

Simeon started his educational journey at El Segundo Elementary School, Roosevelt Jr. High School in Compton, CA, and Paramount High School in Paramount, CA. After high school, he attended Long Beach City College. He graduated from Rio Hondo Fire Academy and became a paramedic for Lynwood Fire Department. On his first fire run the stress was too much for him. He said to his mother, "Mom, I can't take it. I'm out!" He changed his career and enrolled at John Wesley Barber College where he became a Master Barber (Winning numerous awards, certificates, and trophies). He later enrolled in Long Beach Christian College, where he received his license and certificate in Ministry. He was ordained by his then Pastor, Stanley Richards of Beacon Light Baptist Church. He also attended Davis Security Training Center where he received a Certificate of Completion & Fire Arm Safety Certification (where he was afraid to shoot his gun LOL).

Simeon from birth, along with his brother, attended Joseph of Jacob Church of God in Christ. He was christened and baptized under the late Bishop Q.S. Lewis (Father). The Lewis boys strongly desired to learn about God at a very young age and were led by their father to become servants of God in the Church.

As a youth, Simeon sang in the Children's Choir, served as Junior Usher and Junior Deacon. Simeon soon discovered his ability to play the drums, as taught by his Aunt Missionary Nancy C. Jones (Cackie). He began to play for the choir and became the church drummer and taught other young men and women to play drums. Later, he and his brother organized a gospel singing group named "Redeemed" and they sang at various church musicals.

Simeon had a thriving career as a Barber. He owned and operated his own barber shop that he named "A Touch of Perfection." He served the community of North Long Beach for over 20 years. Simeon loved sports. He played varsity baseball, football, and ran track & field at Paramount High School. His favorite sport was football. He was an avid RAIDER fan. He traveled to Oakland and to Las Vegas to follow them. Simeon had many friends and colleagues.

Simeon believed in marriage! He was married three times and had one son from each union. In this order: Teresa White Lewis bore Simeon Lee Lewis II, Veronica Roper Lewis bore Seth Quentin Lewis, Valerie Brown Lewis bore Isaac Damorian Lewis. He was a proud husband and father.

Those who knew Simeon would say, "He had a love for people and a comedic personality." Simeon always said what was on his mind. He would let you know how he felt. Everywhere he went he sang about Jesus and songs from his favorite R&B group Jodeci. He had a way with children, as a barber. He always made you laugh and smile when he came around. Simeon truly loved the Lord, the word of God, family and friends.

Simeon Lee Lewis was preceded in death by his father Quentin S. Lewis; siblings: Lillian Cannon, Betty Jean Shade, Alice Robinson, Quentin Lewis Jr., Virgil Lewis, Sharon Lewis, and Teresa Lewis McKinney. He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Donna L. Lewis, brother Joseph M. Lewis, Marcus Goodby and Lisa Lewis (sister-in-law.), Veronica Roper Lewis, Valerie Brown Lewis. His sons, Simeon L. Lewis II, Shanika (Lady) Burton-Lewis (daughter-in-law), grandchildren Uriah Lewis and Hailee Lewis, Seth Q. Lewis, Isaac D. Lewis, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends and Church family.
