Robert Lee Hampton, age 80, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026. He was born on October 15, 1945 in Los Angeles, California, to Oliver and Lula (Murray) Hampton. Robert was raised in Los Angeles and graduated from Compton High School. He built a strong work ethic early in life, working as a produce manager at Country Farms Market in Compton, California, before continuing his career as a maintenance worker for Los Angeles Unified School District. He retired in 1998 due to health concerns.
At the age of 14, Robert dedicated his life to God at the Church of God In Christ in Los Angeles, California. His Faith remained an important foundation throughout his life. Robert had a deep love for cars and took pride in owning several, including a Cutlass Supreme, Starfire, and BMW, among others. He was especially known for his generosity, even purchasing the first car for each of his beloved sisters. As a child, he loved baseball and was known as the best outfielder in the city. Above all, Robert will be known for his generous spirit, kind heart, and unwavering care for those around him. His presence brought warmth and strength to his family and community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Lula Hampton; his brothers, James, Oliver Jr., Charles, Anthony, Cornell and Lincoln, and his sisters, Cora, Lucille, and Linda; his first wife Ellafaye Dixon-Hampton and son Jarren Hampton. He leaves behind his wife Linda Hampton, sister Claudette Coubaris, and his son Jarette (Cassandra) and daughters La Tanya (Gooney), Lolena Robbie (Kalique), Danielle, Sonya, and his niece Tyesha, a legacy of love through his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and extended family, who will continue to honor his memory.
