In Loving Memory of Kyara Nychole Odessa Guidry
Born August 15, 2002, in Los Angeles, California, Kyara Nychole Odessa Guidry was a radiant soul whose light touched countless hearts. She was the beloved daughter of Donna Guidry and foster parents Darryl and Armeda Maxwell James. From her first breath, she brought warmth, joy, and purpose into the lives of those around her.
Kyara attended Will Rogers Elementary School, John Adams Middle School, and graduated from Santa Monica High School.
A Life of Faith and Song
Kyara accepted Christ at an early age, becoming a devoted member of the 88th Street Temple Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles. Under the pastoral care of Bishop B.R. Benbow and later Superintendent Anthony Williams, she was nurtured in faith, service, and the power of praise.
Her spirit soared in worship, expressed through:
Heavenly solos that moved congregations with her anointed voice,
Sacred praise dancing - her body a living prayer.
Honoring the legacy of late choir director Renee Hayes, who lovingly mentored her musical gift.
Kyara’s deep faith sustained her as she pursued dreams in music and recording. But her greatest joy - her most cherished calling - was motherhood. Her 3-year-old son, Kyng Barber, affectionately known as “Baby Kyng” was her heartbeat. She lived to fill his world with wonder, love, and light.
Reunited in Eternal Glory
On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, in the peace of her home, God’s Spirit gently whispered, “Well done. I have prepared a room for you, my good and faithful servant.”
She now joins Heaven’s choir, singing among the saints, reunited with those who preceded her: Grandparents Clifford Guidry, Wilfred Guidry, and Diana Ramsey, Aunts Dawn Guidry and Angie Ramsey, Foster grandparents James and Cora Maxwell, Beloved mentor Renee Hayes.
Her Living Legacy
Kyara’s spirit shines on in the hearts of those who cherished her:
Her precious son, Kyng Barber, Mother Donna Guidry, Foster parents Darryl and Armeda Maxwell James, Siblings Kylan, Lakefia, and Quone James, and an extended and devoted family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whose lives were brightened by her presence and who she loved.
She is also remembered with love by:
Niece Mia James and nephew Matthew James, Cousins Ralli Sherron Talbert, Jaiden Hunter, Staesha, Kylan, April and Braylon Maxwell, Uncle Darnell, Aunt Sherrie, Aunt Carisa and Aunt Deleshia, Partner Mark, Friends Daisy and Rachel, and her treasured 88th Street Temple Church family, along with countless kindred spirits who knew her laughter, kindness, and light.
A Final Tribute
She sang her truth, loved without walls,
And built heavens in her baby’s eyes.
Now stardust trails where Kyara flies.
