Gregory Lee Peeplez was born in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Edward Lee Peeplez and Margaret Isabel Peeplez. He was the younger brother to Edward Lee (Deceased), William "Billy" Irwin (Deceased), Tyrone "Tito" Cortez, sister Tina and the older brother of sisters, Chesney Pearl and Kelle Elizabeth.
Gregory grew up as a young boy in Louisville, Kentucky during the early 50's. However, he also spent some time back east in Queens, New York during the mid 50's with his mother and older brother Tyrone, where he attended PS118 before he and the family headed out west to meet his father (who left to secure work) in Hollywood, California.
In Hollywood, Gregory and older brother Tyrone used to hang out at Pinks hot dog stand after school and he loved to play basketball with both brothers, Billy and Tyrone, at Poinsettia Park just a few miles from Pinks. After some time in Hollywood, the family moved to Los Angeles and Gregory soon attended Dorsey High.
During a family get-together with mutual friends, Gregory, 15, met a 13-years-old Janet Elizabeth Hall. Soon after that chance meeting, they began seeing each other often. Three years later, they were married in 1967. Gregory Lee, Jr. was born in 1968. Deena Chalon' was born in 1970.
A young man with a family, Gregory held many jobs over the years, but the job that he really loved and helped to move his family to West Covina into their home was R.T.D. (the bus company.) He also had a love for riding motorcycles. When he was able, he purchased several over the years and even rode one of them to his favorite musician's funeral back in 1984 - Marvin Gaye.
As the years moved on, Gregory experienced his share of ups and downs. However, God and family were always in his heart. Twenty years ago, he gave his life to the Lord and most recently prayed with his brother Tyrone for his assurance of salvation. He gave to others in need from his heart when he was able, helped to feed the homeless with his daughter and Janet during the holidays. He loved the Lord and we can rest knowing that he is no longer suffering in pain. We who also know and love the Lord will see him again.
Gregory Lee, Sr. is survived by his children, Gregory Lee Peeplez, Jr. and Deena Chalon' Peeplez; Ex-wife and long-time friend, Janet Elizabeth Peeplez; grandchildren, Curtis Eric Perry, Che'Ana Angelique Perry, Nile Preston Peeplez, Cairo Christian Peeplez, Sahara Noel Peeplez; great-grandchildren, Anavia Savani-Lee Taylor, Elijaah Luka Taylor; brothers, Tyrone Cortez Peeplez, Kurt Triggs Peeplez; sisters, Kelle Elizabeth Peeplez, Chesney Gordon, and Tina Hynous; first-nieces Jvonne Esparza, Kyara Patten, Simone Clay, Arlene Azevedo, Lori Ramirez, Rachel Murray; first-nephews Kalim Reece and Morgan Morones; brothers-in-law, Carl Hall, Jr., James Hall, Victor Hall, and Adrian Hall; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
