George Jones, Jr.

George Jones Jr. was born on January 1, 1946, in Hope, Arkansas, to the loving union of Robert Jones and Rether Mae Sloan. He was given the name George Jones Jr. in honor of his grandfather, George Jones, carrying forward a family name that would become part of his own lasting legacy. 

On July 27, 2026, George peacefully entered eternal rest, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a family who will forever carry his love in their hearts. 

In 2006, George began a beautiful and meaningful new chapter in his life when he joined Mt. Hebron Baptist Church and gave his life to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His decision to accept Christ brought great meaning to the final chapter of his earthly journey and gave his family the comfort of knowing that his faith was firmly placed in the Lord. Though his earthly life has come to an end, his family finds peace in knowing that George had accepted the gift of salvation and is now resting in the arms of his Savior. 

George lived a life defined by strength, humility, kindness, and love. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, family member, and friend. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of those around him, and he believed in treating others with dignity and respect. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and offer support to those in need. 

Throughout his life, George valued family above all else. He treasured time spent with his loved ones, whether sharing stories, laughter, wisdom, or simply enjoying one another's company. His quiet strength, warm smile, and compassionate heart left an impression that will not soon be forgotten. 

In 1969, George met Bernita Boney, and from their union came four beautiful children: LaTonqua Franklin, Francois Jones, Jelani King, and Jamila Wright. 

Later in life, George happily married Charlene Jones, who preceded him in death in 2004. Their union and memories they shared remained an important part of his life's journey as he carried her love with him until his call to Glory. 

George was blessed to see his family continue to grow through eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, each a beautiful part of the legacy he leaves behind. 

George was also one of nine children. He leaves to cherish his memory his four surviving siblings: Betty Epps, Betty Jones, affectionately known as "Pumpkin," Anderson Smith, affectionately known as "Spud," and Andre Beasley. 

He was preceded in death by his beloved siblings Linda Faye Smith, John Smith, Stella Michell, affectionately known as "Basheba," and Willa Marie Maxwell. 

Although George is no longer with us in body, the love, lessons, and memories he shared will remain forever. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and the many friends whose lives he touched. 

Today, we celebrate George Jones Jr. and give thanks for a life well lived. We remember his strength. We remember his kindness. We remember his love for family. And we give thanks for the faith he found in Christ. 

His journey on this earth may have ended, but his story continues through each person who carries a piece of him in their heart. And through faith, we find comfort in knowing that his earthly departure was not the end, but the beginning of his eternal life with the Lord. 

George Jones Jr. will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished. May his memory continue to bring comfort, strength, and love to his family for generations to come.
