Ernestine Martinez

Ernestine Martinez was born on August 14, 1951, in San Bernardino, California, and peacefully passed away on July 13, 2026, in Yucaipa, California.

Ernestine was a loving daughter to Mary and Salvador Zapata and a devoted older sister to Pauline, Cathy, and Josie. Ernestine was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Lucille Lopez, who passed away in 2004. Though Lucille left this world many years before her, the love they shared as sisters never faded. Ernestine carried her memory in her heart throughout the years, holding close the precious moments, laughter, and love they shared. Their bond was everlasting, and she will now be reunited with her beloved sister once again. Family was always at the heart of her life, and she treasured the time she spent with those she loved.

She dedicated much of her life to caring for others. Ernestine worked at Redlands Community Hospital and Loma Linda Hospital before continuing her calling as a caregiver, where she provided comfort and compassion through cooking, cleaning, and helping others with their daily needs. Her generous spirit also led her to volunteer at the Juvenile Center, where she gave her time to support and encourage young people.

For 25 years, Ernestine remained committed to Alcoholics Anonymous, inspiring many through her strength, perseverance, and willingness to help others on their own journeys. She lived her life with kindness, resilience, and an open heart.

Ernestine found her greatest joy in bringing people together. She loved cooking meals for family and friends, filling her home with warmth, laughter, and love. Her smile, generous heart, and unwavering care for others touched everyone who knew her. 

Although our hearts are heavy with her passing, we find comfort in the beautiful memories she leaves behind. Ernestine’s love, compassion, and legacy of service will live on in the lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
